Oprah’s team was introduced to Runamok at the Fancy Food Show in New York City last year. Sorkin’s team had a tiny booth buried in the basement at the show, but their impressive display separated them from the pack because the exhibit illustrated how this maple syrup was clearly not just for pancakes.

Laura Sorkin said she and her team have put together the collection to encourage the public to come up with their own spectacular pairings. “The Elderberry Infused and Pecan Wood Smoked are the most versatile but we have found some nice pairings with the other varieties too,” she said.
One night at a party Sorkin set out the Pecan Wood Smoked Maple with sharp cheddar and guests loved it. “Realizing we were on to something, we went out and purchased a whole variety of cheeses, tried all kinds of different combinations, and wrote down our absolute favorites,” she said. “We were constantly amazed at how the syrup would bring out nuances of the cheese we hadn’t tasted before.”
